  • What’s in a Name?

    What’s in a Name?

For the next one week I will be sharing daily devotions on our title series( what’s in a Name?) on the person of Jesus. The way I like to understand something which is new or I am used to, is to begin from the start and at times to break it into small chunks which are manageable, that’s where we shall begin from.

Our Focus being Jesus and Who He is. But keep these in mind, Jesus has no Beginning or End, for He is Alpha and Omega. He has existed before eternity and will continue to exist after, forever and forever and forever.

An illustration of eternity would be, you take a rope let’s say one meter and then on it mark a Dot at the beginning. The Dot represents your life after Earth and the rest of the rope represents eternity, the difference being that you can’t see the end of eternity, as we see our rope.

    Key Scripture’s.
    Luke 1:31 , John 14:6, Philippians 2:5-11 NLT.

You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.
    Luke 1:31 NLT
    (Purpose)

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
    John 14:6 NLT
    (Person)

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges ; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
    Philippians 2:5‭-‬11 NLT
    (Power)

The three P’s in our key Scripture’s are purpose, person, power. We are to start with the first.

    1. Purpose:
Is a target, goal, an aim to be reached.
The reason why something is done or it’s done in a particular way.

    Name:
A person, Reputation or also A unique identifier.

With these definitions, let’s move on. Before Jesus was conceived by Mary the angel, Gabriel told her the name to give her and also the purpose which He will fullfil on Earth.

He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”
    Luke 1:32‭-‬33 NLT

In conclusion, what’s in a Name?
As we have learned we see one; a name shows the person’s purpose here on Earth, that’s why we don’t just have any names, God chose those names for us, Selah

    Jeremiah 1:5 AMP
Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

    Prayer.
Thank You God that even before my parents knew about me You did and You approved of me and chose me to be Your instrument, I pray that I will walk in the revelation of who You have called me to be, give me grace Holy Spirit, I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

  • Focus on Jesus

    Focus on Jesus

As long as Peter was moving forward towards Jesus fear lost its grip on him and he stayed on top of the water just like Jesus, the moment he shifted his focus from the Lord and focused on the effects of the wind, fear got back it’s grip and he began to sink.

The LORD Keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strength to those whose hearts are loyal to him. 2chronicals16:9a

Beloved Friend of God Focus on Jesus
Focus on what Jesus did, Pray!

  • Lean on God

    Lean on God

The Apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Rome: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
    Romans 12:1‭-‬2 MSG

Commit to walk in the fear of God and grow in understanding; to receive His word and to treasure His commands within you; to seek and search for skillful and godly wisdom. Allow the Holy Spirit to show you any area of resistance that would hinder you from leaning on God and give access to every facet of your private and public life, and determine this year you will grow in the fear of the Lord and draw closer to God.

  • God’s promises to me

    God’s promises to me

    Key scriptures:

    Numbers 23:19 AMPC
God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?

    2 Corinthians 1:20 AMPC
For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.

  • Focused on Jesus in the midst of the challenges.

Focused on Jesus in the midst of the challenges.

How has the season been to you?
How has it made you feel or be: disappointed? Discouraged? In Guilt? In shame?

God is calling you back to himself!!

How many times am I going to hear your word God for me to believe you?

As much as it takes for my spirit to receive it. (Roman’s 10:17, So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that is heard is what Christ spoke.)

God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change his mind. When he says something, he does it. When he makes a promise, he keeps it.
    Numbers 23:19 GW

God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?
    Numbers 23:19 AMPC

How then do I trust your word God? When fear and doubts come against the word you have given me?

By believing that God’s word is alive in every situation you are facing and it’s active working for your good even when things on the ground seem different.

God’s word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet.
    Hebrews 4:12 GW

The weapons we use in our fight are not made by humans. Rather, they are powerful weapons from God… We take every thought captive so that it is obedient to Christ.
    2 Corinthians 10:4‭-‬5 GW

Trust God’s word for you in these season for it holds the power you need to walk over every storms and winds that have come and will come. (For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.
    Luke 1:37 AMPC)
